A huge setback for Indian National Congress in Punjab as the Congress senior leader Navjot Singh Sidhu resigned as the party chief of the state. This decision comes after few days of Punjab getting Charnjeet Singh Channi as the new Chief Minister. The party leaders had rebelled against former CM of Punjab Captain Amrinder Singh.

The political turmoil within the congress party is worsening day by day especially in the state of Punjab. All these incidents will have a negative impact on the upcoming assembly elections in the state. This once again showed that Congress the grand old party needs firm leadership and it is lacking a lot in that terms. Aam Adami Party (AAP), Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will get the immense benefit of the instability in Congress.

Congress and its senior leaders especially Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi should work on repairing the party’s image and prevent it from becoming tarnished. Lok Sabha elections are not far and if the situation does not change in the congress then it will be tough for the opposition parties to form a strong opposition alliance against BJP.

On the other hand, there also came a piece of good news for the party as two young political leaders Kanhaiya Kumar and Jignesh Mevani joined congress. Earlier there were rumors that the two will join the party today they officially became the Congress members ahead of the elections in five states. They have already started making headlines. The time will tell how much impact they create for the party. But congress surely has high expectations from them.
