North Korea had earlier tested a short-range ballistic missile in the month of march and a cruise missile in January this year just days after Joe Biden was elected as the president of the US. Despite US sanctions on Pyongyang the country continues to develop weapons. However, the US has not made any official statement on this and is verifying the tests. South Korea and Japan also have raised concerns over the test.

It is being said that this test is steps closer to attain president Kim Jong Un’s call to make the North Korean Military powerful. North Korea’s talks with the US are pending since 2019. Former US President Donald Trump had had three rounds of talks with Kim Jong Un though no solution was found over North Korea’s nuclear program.

North Korea’s leadership should shift the focus from developing weapons to invest time and money in recovering the economy and the standard of living of the citizens. There is a massive food shortage in the country. And huge devastation of infrastructure due to floods. So emphasis should be given to these things because developing new weapons not going to end the hunger of the citizens.

The cruise missiles tested by North Korea do not come under the ban of US sanctions. They fly at a lower altitude over shorter distances. The photos of the launch of the missile were also shared by the country’s news agency.
