On January 3rd, 2020 news broke about the early morning assassination of Iranian commander Qasem Soleimani who was the leader of the Quds force. The targeted operation was carried out by the US under President Donald Trump’s administration. It was the drone strike that was implemented in Baghdad as Quds force is listed as a terrorist organization in the US.

The operation and left the world to astound as it was the beginning of a new year. As an act of retaliation, Iran had fired missiles at the US airbase in Iraq. However, no casualties were reported by the US officials. Two years have completed this incident but the scars remain, wounds still fresh for Iran and it harshly blames the US for the attack along with its arch-rival Israel.

The enmity between Israel and Iran is very old because of which the relations continue to be bitter between the two. Israel finds Iran’s nuclear program problematic and Israel’s Mossad has carried out several operations in Iran which has resulted in Iran’s failure. During Trump’s administration, the US had pulled out of Iran’s nuclear deal and imposed sanctions on Iran with other countries escalating the relations. About Israel’s involvement in the operation then-president, Donald Trump had spilled the beans in the interviews stating people will get to know about it at the ‘right time.’ After two years of the operation, there are several reports that state Israel was part of the assassination.
Israel’s Involvement In Soleimani’s Murder
In Iran, as people remembered their leader Soleimani, rallies were carried out during which US and Israeli flags were crumbled by the marching citizens who demanded revenge for the murder of their leader. Israel had the intel of the Qasem Soleimani’ details which it handed over to the US. Israel’s then military head Tamir Heyman was the first to confirm Israel’s involvement.
Israel has a problem with Iran’s nuclear deal and has decided that it will not let Iran succeed in its nuclear ambitions. Earlier it has assassinated its Iranian scientist. Recently, Israel had a discussion with the US regarding nuclear. Israeli PM Bennett met UAE counterpart to strengthen its ties with the Gulf countries.
