We are soon going to bid adieus to the year 2021 which was not that mushy for Indians. As the nation has to go through the second deadly wave of Covid which resulted in lockdown in several states that affected the economy of the nation. Though several good things happened as well like the nation got the vaccine to combat Covid and so far India has complete vaccination of 100 crore citizens.

The nation has witnessed several incidents of political importance. Politics in India is far and wide. At times a rift was seen between the state governments and central government over the handling of the second wave of Covid and the distribution of vaccines. In year five states also went through assembly elections during which the entire nation’s eye was on them. Several news schemes were announced and new projects too were inaugurated.

26 January Violence At Red Fort

Violence had broken out in the capital city of Delhi on January 26, 2021, as farmers were protesting on the borders of the city against three contentious farm laws which are now revoked. The tractor rally became violent and several FIRs were registered. Many journalists and social activists were accused of misleading and instigating farmers. Many breached the rules and stormed at red fort. This incident not only caught Indians’ eyes but globally it was covered.

West Bengal Elections

The assembly elections of West Bengal have become a matter of prestige and reputation for both the parties BJP and TMC. It was Mamata Banerjee against Narendra Modi, Amit Shah, Yogi Adityanath, ED, CBI, Media, traitor from the party, etc. BJP has applied its complete power and force to defeat Mamata Banerjee in the election. They conducted maximum rallies in the state yet Mamata Banerjee won the election.

Pegasus Spyware

Before the monsoon session of the parliament began this year, the news of the NSO group’s spyware broke in the world. As per the reports, the spyware was used by the Indian government to snoop on social activists, journalists, politicians, and opposition leaders. The news has stunned the nation as it is a breach of privacy and above that threat to democracy. The matter went to the Supreme Court and now a separate committee is probing the matter.

Lakhimpur-Kheri Incident

In October a group of farmers protesters was agitating at UP’s Lakhimpur Kheri during which SUV car in full speed came and hit the mob of protesting farmers in which they lost their lives. The car that hit the farmers was of the son of BJP MP Ajay Mishra. This incident had repercussions all over India as outrage was expressed across the nation demanding justice. It also made headlines because initially the opposition leaders were not allowed to meet the families of the victims.

Withdrawal Of Farm Laws

On November 19, PM Modi through his address to the nation on the occasion of Guru Nanak Jayanti announced that the three farm laws will be repealed by the government. The announcement came after a year along with protest on the borders of Delhi by farmers in which many even lost their lives. PM urged the protesting farmers to end their protest. In December first week the farmers officially withdrew the protest.
